The primary objective of this Study was to quantify and to characterize solid waste stream for the three different sectors namely housing areas, rural kampong areas and also commercial areas at WP Labuan. The analysis of waste stream composition was used for further assessing possible recycling potential as well as to determine appropriate waste treatment options.
Waste composition data constitutes the background for identifying which materials were targeted for potential recovery and also to estimate the component of waste suitable for the incineration process. A waste characteristic survey was carried out in selected areas of WP Labuan over a period of 4 days.
The selected areas for the waste characteristic study are within the collection zone location plan for the garbage collection service under the jurisdiction of Perbandanan Labuan (Labuan Council).
