Kimanis Bay, District of Papar, Sabah

Client:Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd

The Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal (SOGT) Project in Kimanis, Sabah is for the purpose of receiving, processing, storage, metering and exporting the oil and gas. The oil will be exported through two submarine pipelines and Single Point Moorings (SPM). Chemsain Konsultant Sdn Bhd was appointed as the consultant to study and assess the environmental impacts from the development.

Chemsain assessed the existing environment, project activities and risk in order to evaluate and identify potential adverse impacts of the proposed development project, to propose mitigating measures and appropriate management plan to eliminate or minimize the impacts, and to ensure that the proposed development project will be conducted in compliance with PCSB and Malaysian Regulatory requirements on environment.

The findings of the studies indicate that the construction and operation of the proposed Project will not impose any significant adverse residual environmental impacts on the surrounding locality. The economic spin off and job opportunities following the constructing of the terminal would be significant and would help contribute to Sabah’s economic development in a big way.

Chemsain Konsultant Sdn Bhd is proud to have conducted these studies and both reports were submitted to Department of Environment (DOE) and Environment Protection Department (EPD), Sabah respectively. All reports were eventually approved by both authorities.
