Chemsain Family Day was held on the 13^th of May 2023 at Pantai Puteri, Santubong. The morning started off with a light drizzle but that did not dampen our spirits! We were all determined to have a good time at the beach.

A total number of 33 adults and 4 children participated and everybody arrived by 8:30am. We all worked together to set up the barbeque pit as well as a picnic space for eating. As we laid out the picnic mats on the sand and hung up the canvas sheets as shelter, the drizzle started to die down.

We kickstarted our Family Day with an opening speech delivered by the president of the Sports & Recreation Club, Jocephine Jonip. The speech was then followed by an aerobic/Zumba session which was also led by the S&R President. She can undoubtedly be a stage performer with her amazing moves and charisma which motivated us to shake loose and get into the groove.

After an energetic start, we got to the first game of the day, which was Captain Ball. Tired and hungry from playing the first game, we started eating the spread of food prepared by the S&R team. There was BBQ chicken wings, BBQ lamb, sausages, coleslaw, fried rice, fried beehoon as well as some fizzy and refreshing drinks.

The weather was not very encouraging as it rained on and off, but we imagined it was a sunny day and continued with the games – Blindfolded Candy Scoop (for the kids), Gunny Sack Race and Dodgeball. There was also some karaoke and merry Poco Poco dancing under the coconut trees.

At 2pm, Mr. Khairil (Senior Manager, HSE Dept) gave a closing speech and handed out the prize hampers to the winning teams. It was a successful event, the day ended with smiles and the S&R team would like to thank everyone who happily participated even under the rain. Even though it was raining in the sky that morning, it was definitely sunny in our hearts.
