The launching for Chemsain Art Exhibition (CAE) 2022 - The Repurposed on 7th September 2022 was a resounding success! Held at the Kuching Chemsain Building Level 6, the Auditorium was brimming to capacity with invited guests, exhibition artists, members of the press and staff.

Our Guest of Honour YB Prof. Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak cum Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak, commended Chemsain for staging an art exhibition to create awareness on environmental sustainability. “Art is an effective way for us to connect which transcends language and cultural barriers. This exhibition provides an interactive way to educate the public. I am happy to see artists and corporate organisations collaborate on such dynamic effort” he said. Our Director, Dr John Chan, during his welcoming speech emphasized that “sustainability is not the role of any particular government agency or individual but a collective effort”.  "We have provided countless solutions in environment, engineering, occupational hygiene, water infrastructure, information management and scientific research supported by state-of-the-art laboratories which provide testing in almost every industry you can think of in Malaysia.”

Apart from the formalities, there was also an Exhibition Walkabout with the GOH and the event closed with lunch for all participants, prepared by Sunnydale Cafe at Level 1 of Chemsain Building.

This event would not have been successful without the effort and time put in by so many staff. A special mention goes out to Ivy Ting and Lynette Kueh for taking the bull by the horns and marching ahead with this event. The great teamwork, planning and organization by them with the help and cooperation of all supporting staff deserves a big round of applause and worthy thank you!

For those who are in Kuching, do take the time to visit the Exhibition and enjoy the art pieces as they will only be on display here for the month of September.  Workshops by specific artists will also be held on weekends throughout the month.
